Today was so crazy! (July 3rd) My brother, Loren Russell, got a job as a tour guide in King's Canyon, and today was his first day on the job.
However, I got a call late last night from Loren that he flipped the car on his way up, on a narrow canyon road, on his way back from a dismally deceptive dead-end detour. He crashed and flipped the whole car over its front end, landing upside-down, right next to a camp overlooking Pine Flats Lake. He exited the car unscathed, apart from a miniscule scratch on his elbow. Some friendly people in the camp (who saw the whole thing) helped him call us (no cell phone reception there), and helped get his stuff out of the car.
My mom & I drove down in the middle of the night to get his stuff and get him to his job on time. We're not even going to bother getting back the car that was towed. It was a crappy ford tempo with light blue paint, which I hated intensely, and planned to destroy anyway.
So we got Loren to Kings Canyon on time, and it turns out he's staying in a lodge called "Convict Flats" because it was built by convicts. We hiked around a bit, took a tour of Boyden Cavern (when Loren will be working), then drove back to SLO. We got back home at around 6pm. I am soooo tired right now so I'm gonna get some sleep.
